Biography

Myrna Jean Snyder, 78, was born November 26, 1933. She was a 1951 graduate of Payne High School. After high school she attended Wittenberg University and Ohio State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts. She was inducted into the Chi Omega sorority and was the Ohio State Makio Queen in college. On September 3, 1955 she married Don K. Snyder. They began their life in Chicago, Illinois where her husband was enrolled in medical school. While there she worked for the Arthur Anderson Company in the art advertising. Her passion was painting and specialized in oil paintings. Her works also included watercolors, ceramics and glazes. Myrna taught painting classes and she was the only artist ever to paint with Ida Gordon, one of the most noted artists in Brown County. She loved the Word of God and taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church, Payne, and Calvary Bible Church in Paulding, Ohio. She loved housing, feeding, and fellowshipping with the many missionaries and Bible teachers while exposing her children to her faith. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Payne, Fort Wayne Artists Club and the China Painters Society of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Myrna loved traveling and spending time with her family. Myrna was looking forward to being with her Lord and Savior. The family rejoices in knowing Myrna is in the presence of the Lord.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Don K. Snyder; sons, Mitchell (Julia) Snyder and Steven (Connie) Snyder of Payne; daughter, Marla (Joe) Harter of Haviland; grandchildren: Rachael (Damon Paul) Adams, Noah Snyder, Natalie Snyder, Devon Snyder and Austin Yant of Payne; a great granddaughter, Kea Emma Adams; and a sister Miriam Gaut of Woodburn, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzette Snyder; her parents, Marcell and Gladys Gaut; and a sister, Marsha Conwell.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 AM Saturday, July 14 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, with Pastors Dave Rohrer and Julia Ronngren officiating. Burial will follow in Lehman Cemetery, Payne.

Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Friday, July 13 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.
